CAQA GreenLoop Sustainability, sustainability operations, resource recovery and environmental services

CAQA GreenLoop Sustainability recovers resources from commercial and municipal waste streams and helps organisations reduce their environmental footprint. The Eastern Creek materials recovery facility sorts commingled recycling from council and commercial collections into paper, cardboard, glass, plastics and metals for sale to reprocessors. The Windsor organics facility turns food and garden organics into certified compost and soil conditioners. The Newcastle base runs environmental monitoring for industrial and infrastructure clients, sampling water, soil, air and noise, and the advisory team delivers energy audits, carbon accounting, sustainability reporting and circular economy programs for manufacturers, councils and universities across New South Wales.

The business is organised into six departments. The materials recovery facility operates two shifts, six days a week, with a receival hall, pre-sort cabin, optical and eddy current sorting lines, balers and a product yard. The organics facility runs a day shift with receival, shredding, aerated composting pads, screening and bagging. Environmental Monitoring and Field Services runs four field vehicles from Newcastle and Eastern Creek with a small laboratory for field testing and sample preparation. Sustainability Advisory and Reporting and the Operational Excellence team work from Eastern Creek and on client sites. Safety, Licensing and Compliance supports all sites.
