Sustainability and Circular Economy Policy

Purpose. Sets out how GreenLoop manages its own sustainability performance and the principles it applies when advising clients on sustainability, emissions and circular economy initiatives.

1.Commitment

GreenLoop will measure, report and reduce its own energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, water use and waste to landfill, and will apply circular economy principles to its products, purchasing and partnerships. Advice given to clients must be based on measured data, recognised methods and honest assessment of what an initiative will achieve.

2.Targets

The business sets targets at management review and publishes progress in the annual sustainability report. Targets must be measurable, must have a baseline year and must be owned by a named manager.

• Reduce scope one and scope two emissions by 30 percent from the baseline year by 2030
• Divert 90 percent of received material from landfill
• Reduce potable water use per tonne processed by 20 percent
• Source at least 80 percent of electricity from renewable sources by 2028

3.Measurement and reporting

Energy, fuel, water and waste data must be collected monthly from meters, invoices and weighbridge records and entered in the sustainability data set. The Head of Sustainability Advisory will prepare the regulated energy and emissions report and the voluntary sustainability report each year and the General Manager will approve them before lodgement or publication.

4.Advisory principles

Advisers must use the recognised greenhouse gas accounting methods and the national emission factors current at the time of the work. Claims of savings must be supported by measured or modelled data with the assumptions stated. Advisers must not recommend an initiative that transfers an impact to another part of the client's supply chain without disclosing it.

5.Circular economy

GreenLoop will prioritise initiatives that keep materials at their highest value, in the order of avoid, reduce, reuse, repair, recycle and recover. Product and process design work must consider the whole life cycle including end of life. Collaborative arrangements with suppliers and customers will be documented with clear responsibilities and data sharing.

6.Social sustainability

GreenLoop will provide fair and safe work, will employ locally where practical, will support community programs near its sites and will consider social impacts in every sustainability recommendation.
